Conservation Programs and Issues

Trout Unlimited's mission is to conserve, protect and restore North America's trout and salmon fisheries and their watersheds. TU's vision is to ensure that robust populations of native and coldwater fish once again thrive within their North American range, so that our children can enjoy healthy fisheries in their home waters. TU's national network of dedicated volunteers and professional staff conduct on-the-ground research and restoration projects, and advocate for fish-friendly policies and legislation at the local, state and national levels.

Long Draw Reservoir program:
The U.S. Forest Service has been required to perform an environmental impact study relating to the re-licensing of the dam at Long Draw reservoir by the Water Supply and Storage Company. Read the final EIS for the Long Draw Reservoir Project.

Invasive species:
The threat of the New Zealand Mud Snail is very real here in Colorado. Presence of this invasive creature has been detected in the South Platte along the 11 Mile Canyon stretch and in Boulder Creek.
